Jobs Abroad UK

Do not leave the house without…not your American express but your visa (this entitles you to live and find Jobs Abroad UK) and without getting it before you leave, you will only be able to enter the UK on a visitors visa.

Immigration officials are allowed to refuse to let you in on arrival and this does happen. Sort it out before arrival with the visa that matches your plans and situation the best. The UK has a large selection of visas used for entry but typically there are four that provide a New Zealander and Australian access to work and live in the UK.

Open to all aged 17-27 and is valid for 2 years. You MUST get it in your own country. No WHVs are issued to Australians and New Zealanders from the UK. The visa's basis is that you come to the UK for a holiday, but are able to work to add to, NOT support your trip. On a WHV you are able to work part time for the time you are on holiday or full time for part of your holiday. You cannot follow a chosen career on the visa. The work chosen must be purely to help cover expenses while in the UK on holiday. This is not always the case, but you must understand this rule. So, do not bring your resume, references or tools into the UK when you travel, rather post them. For example, if you're a chef, bring your kitchen utensils and the immigration official could conclude that you are looking to hone your skills and the next plane home will be yours.

You cannot extend a WHV beyond 2 years. If you quality for another type of visa when you depart it's better to apply for that, as it could be hard to alter your visa status and requires a lot of important time and earning power.

Visa for Jobs Abroad UK: UK Patriality / ancestry

People with parents or grandparents born in the UK could apply for a visa allowing you to work in the UK for 4 years, with no restrictions on the type of jobs you may accept.

Often proof of family ties and work prospects must be supplied on arrival. If it's required you must have a letter confirming registration with a staff-placement agency. The most important restriction on this kind of visa is that you are self supporting, so you are not allowed social security benefits.

You are committed to paying national insurance and tax. If you meet these requirements, after four years, you might apply for a visa extension and finally even meet the requirements to qualify for a British passport.

Visa: defacto/gay/marriage relationship

If your spouse is a British passport holder or has an ancestry visa, you might apply for entry clearance to allow limitless work in the UK. You could be required to prove that you can support yourself financially and have job opportunities available when you arrive. In most cases you will be issued with a visa valid for a year at first, which would be renewed after that.

If you meet the requirements you will be given a visa that allows permanent stay, and one day qualify to be a British passport holder. With defacto (common law in the UK) and gay relationships, there is no official policy to covering this. But, visas are issued for these couples, but Recruitment UK suggests you get professional help if you want to be considered for these.

Working permits

The hardest visa to get traditionally, they have been given to people who have jobs in the UK and have special skills that UK / European employers battle to find locally. Relevant qualifications and experience for the position are essential and the applicant must possess these.

But, significant moving changes have been announced in the UK recently meaning that the application procedure and processing time is simpler and faster now. Work permits are there to fill gaps in the labout market as well as cover a variety of disciplines.

With recent policy amendments and major labour shortages in the UK, Recruitment UK foretells that work permits will be more popular for many New Zealand and Australian nationals in the future who cannot obtain visas due to age and lack of British family ties.

Think about it

You will get nowhere without a visa.

Find out what options are available to you the moment you start planning your trip. Pub stories and your friend's ideas on the rules are usually wrong. Policy could and does change, without warning so ground your decisions on fact from official channels only.

Allow plenty of time to get your visa as the process time is determined by the office who issues them, not your travel agenda. It is clever to apply for the visa allowing you with the maximum amount of time you qualify for. Why you ask? Because, once you land in the UK, you may find that you would like to stay longer that you originally thought. Job opportunities are usually regularly nicer and the remuneration more than in Australia or New Zealand.
