Handy Tips When Working With Pitman’s People

    Remember these handy tips:

  • Before you leave for work every morning make sure you have checked train times. If you don’t know your location check on a map to ensure you will be early to your meeting place
  • We work 24/7, 7 days a week so you need to always be available unless you have told us otherwise – our working week is Monday to Sunday!
  • You must respond to text messages from your number one or crew manager within 1 hour or you run the risk of being removed from the job
  • You must return any missed calls from your number one or crew manager as soon as possible to avoid any problems
  • You must expect to be called for work at short notice so always try and have your kit ready for every day on standby
  • You should always assume you will be working the next day of a job unless told otherwise or booked off
  • Keep your target chart (given in your starter pack) up to date so that you can keep track of your pay increases, promotions etc.
  • Remember you may have to work away from home for weeks at a time and that our jobs are typically long days with early starts, so do always be prepared
  • You may need to take a packed lunch with you every day as some sites will not be close to a shop
  • It’s always a good idea to dress warm and dry as you are going to be working outside most if not all of the time
  • The work we do can often be labour intensive so do bear that in mind. Stay warmed up and don’t start lifting without stretching first
  • If you have any questions about any details relating to work or pay, please contact the crew manager
